iPhone-o-Gram! Chiro Fun!
They are at it again! Only this time it's guess the coins :)
No, they are not chocolate!! I guess this makes them more low-cal? :c/
But I guessed any way. This place is such a hoot--do you think I'll win?

A Happy Friday Earworm!

I feel GOOD this morning! I’m filling book orders while laundry runs and I get ready for my appointment run around day --- books will be dropped at the post office on my way to the chiropractor.
I had my ipod on shuffle this morning….boy what a weird collection of music is on there. Something came on through the random shuffle that I hadn't heard in a LONG time and now I can’t get THIS out of my head!
But it’s a happy tune, and it takes me back to my high school days. Maybe it will put some happy pep in YOUR Friday too!
My Senior year of high school I worked for a place called H. Salt Fish n Chips. It was there I fell in love with hand battered onion rings, red cream soda, and ginger beer. We had a great working crew and we planned fun things on our days off. One of the things we did was go to an Abba concert ---- I know it was the cheap seats, because there WERE no seats, we were sitting on a blanket on the grass, but I’ll always remember that day – how the evening got dark, but it was still warm in September. The music, the night, the music, the friends --- the stars above.
I remember the red, white and blue polyester double knit sailor suit uniforms we had to wear, complete with sailor collars and red ties. And HATS. And how I'd ride the bus home, drop my shoes and clothes in the garage where the laundry was immediately because EVERYTHING smelled like fish fry oil.
But still -- those were good times!
Just random thoughts from the basement ----a whole life time ago.

Tidewater Pineapple Blossoms!
We had a full, fun Pineapple Blossom class day on Wednesday --- a great group of ladies, a terrific pot luck lunch, lots of laughter and LOTS of sewing!
The church facility we met at had great lighting ((As quilters, we know how important lighting is to our projects and work spaces!)) lots of windows….plenty of power with no blown fuses for irons ((Also a MUST HAVE!!)) and the tables were HUGE – so everyone had plenty of space to spread out.
I absolutely loved the variety I saw in the blocks. The stories behind the fabric origins were fun too --- some were completely scrappy, some were going with color schemes, and some trying to purpose Jelly Rolls or Bali Pops that had been laying around a long time with no project in mind for them --- and this was the project to push them into a quilt, instead of just occupying a spot on the shelf for “some day.”
I also loved getting to see Bunnie’s Orca Bay in progress….getting to be up close and personal to someone else’s quilt means *I* can marvel over the fabric in there and see it so much better than just a photograph. So many people tell me how much different the quilts look in person, or better in person, than in a photo on the computer, and I can say the same thing about the quilts that people share with me for show and tell at guild meetings. It thrills me to see them up close!
Bunnie’s quilt is only 1/3 put together, but it’s coming along! You wouldn’t know it but one of her dark brown fabrics actually had SNAKES on it, and she hated that fabric until she cut it up into 2.5'” squares for the corner of the star blocks. It doesn’t look like snakes now! Remember --- hideous? Just go for SMALLER! I love the ocean colors of her blue/turquoise/teal fabrics too. Yum!
So here’s the blocks in progress from a group of fabulous ladies!
I’m on the mend. And there is no more time for laying around feeling punky anymore! I’ve got a chiropractor appointment, an eye doc appointment, and a massage all scheduled one after the other. It will be a run around day ----
And is it REALLY true that day light’s savings starts THIS Sunday?! This is going to be one ugly Sunday – I’ve got a 5:20am flight to Little Rock Arkansas, which means…it’s a 4:20 am flight to Little Rock? OY!
Happy Friday, everyone! Bring on the weekend!

Evening Edition: Free Kindle Book!

Can you tell I have too much time on my hands this evening? And no sewing in those hands either ----I’m on the couch, under a quilt, playing with my new kindle fire.
I just found this freebie and wanted to pass it on. And just for curiosity’s sake I checked --- I haven’t posted any freebies since Monday.
I figure I can stay here in my recliner and edit down the photos on my laptop from yesterday’s pineapple blossom workshop so those will be ready to go tomorrow.
Here’s this evening’s download for me:
Soul and Shadow by Susan J. McLeod is free today from the Amazon Kindle store, and has received an average user rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars based on 31 customer reviews.
Category: Mystery
Book Description:
In ancient Egypt, a young priestess of the goddess Hathor is laid to rest in a beautiful tomb with everything she needs for her journey into the afterlife…
Three thousand years later, archaeologist Ursula Allingham discovers the mummy of Amisihathor and is confronted by a mystery. Is the man buried with the priestess really her husband? Or was she actually in love with a scribe called Kamenwati and separated from him in life as well as death?
To answer these questions, Dame Ursula turns to Egyptology student and artist Lily Evans, who reluctantly agrees to help. Lily learns that she is psychically linked to Amisihathor and experiences a strange, unsettling phenomenon—the memories and emotions of the Egyptian woman. Luckily, Lily has her beloved pet Cleocatra and her irrepressible friend Katy to keep her grounded in reality. Or so she hopes.
Dealing with the challenges of falling in love with Ursula’s grandson Kent, the reappearance of her ex-fiance Stephen and the demands of her mother and her boss Professor Briggs, Lily soon realizes she has taken on much more than she bargained for.
I usually don’t go for strange “phenomenon” kind of things ---- but I do admit to loving the Indiana Jones movies, and the Mummy movies too – so am I game for this? Yep!
Just be sure to double check it’s still free before clicking to purchase ---
Have a good night!
